Friends: “The One With the Halloween Party”
Friends always exceeds expectations for holiday episodes, and “The One with the Halloween Party” is no exception. The gang throws a costume party, where Monica forces Chandler to wear a pink bunny costume. When Phoebe runs into her twin sister, Ursela and meets her fiancé, she invites them to the party. Newly pregnant Rachel thinks handing out candy to trick-or-treaters would be a great way to bond with kids, but things don’t go as planned.
South Park: “Pink Eye”
Kenny dies, obvi. But this time he comes back as a brain-hungry zombie and the boys don’t realize he’s an undead. When other people become zombies thanks to Kenny biting them, they’re thought to just have pink eye, which is unusual for zombies. Chef is the only person who recognizes the danger. So when Chef gets bit and the other zombies begin taking over South Park, the boys have to defeat them before it’s too late.
Sabrina the Teenage Witch: “A Halloween Story”
Another great 90s Halloween television episode to get you in the Halloween mood. Harvey’s throwing a big Halloween party, but since Halloween is the most import holiday in the Spellman household, there’s a big family gathering and Sabrina can’t go. Salem decides to help out by telling Sabrina a spell that will create a clone to go to one of the events for her. Unfortunately, the clone only knows a few phrases and will do pretty much anything anyone suggests – including streaking through Harvey’s backyard.
Lizzie McGuire: “Night of The Day of the Dead”
We can never forget this episode of Lizzie McGuire. Kate, of course, wronged Lizzie at their Halloween fright night at school. Lizzie wanted to be the “Dungeon mistress”, but Kate stole that role and made Lizzie be a clown even after she cleaned out the janitor’s office. So the gang decided to come up with a scheme to get back at her. Miranda’s Day of the Day skeletons “mysteriously” disappear, Matt disappears, and Gordo is gone too, but his voice is still coming out of a Burger Buddy doll. Lizzie suddenly turns into a zombie, and the skeleton couple reappears in life size. Needless to say, they scare Kate pretty good.
It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
A classic. The Peanuts gang are all back and celebrating Halloween. Linus’s hopes are high for the Great Pumpkin. Charlie actually gets an invite to a Halloween party. And everyone goes trick-or-treating. Meanwhile, Linus remains behind in the pumpkin patch determined to spot the Great Pumpkin. He doesn’t spot him by the end of the episode, but swears he will next year.
Boy Meets World: “The Witches of Pennbrook”
This is definitely one of the best 90s Halloween television episodes ever made. The episode focuses on Eric trying to prove that Jack’s new girlfriend, Millie (played by Candice Cameron Bure), is a witch. Shawn believes she’s a witch from the beginning due to her creepiness and the fact that she owns a cauldron. She ends up making Jack choose between Eric and her, and he unfortunately chooses her and she moves in. Of course Eric endures a talk with Mr. Feeny as he’s handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Then Eric makes it back in time to save Jack and Shawn from a sacrifice Millie and her witch friends are hosting. The episode calls for some great Eric Matthews humor and wonderful 90s Halloween vibes.
The Office: “Halloween”
Michael gets news that he must fire someone and waited until the very last minute to decide who, and he finally must make his decision. He cycles through his staff trying to decide as the deadline approaches. Jim and Pam decide to play a prank on Dwight and update his resume. And the Halloween costumes make this episode pure gold.
Pretty Little Liars: “The First Secret”
This episode is a flashback to when Ali was still alive and Hanna was still chubby. The girls go to a Halloween bash. We see Alison get what could be the very first text from A while she’s in a costume store and runs into Jenna. Ali also gets a voodoo doll threatening to torture her. Jenna shows up to the party in the exact costume as Alison and Alison is NOT having it. This episode is basically a prequel episode for what to expect in the following seasons since it’s so creepy and unique.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air: “Hex and the Single Guy”
After Trevor dies, Hilary is desperate to talk to him one last time, so she drags the fam to a psychic for a séance to say her goodbyes. Will, being his normal self, doesn’t believe in this stuff, so he mocks him the whole time. Because of this, the psychic curses the whole family and bad things begin to happen to them later that day. This is by far one of the best Fresh Prince episodes and is some of funniest Halloween acting of all time.
Scream Queens: “Haunted House”
Chanel Oberlin begins the episode with her plans for Chanel-O-Ween, which is basically just the time when she gifts her “pathetic followers” stuff like severed hands, razor apples, rotting jack-o-lanterns, and a cadaver head stolen from an ophthalmology student. It’s her favorite time of the year because “it’s the one day a year that you’re allowed to terrorize children and not be branded a psychopath.” The rest of the crew is still trying to figure out who the Red Devil is. Dean Munsch is being accused of being the killer. And Zayday announces that she wants to run against Chanel for president, which obviously leads to Chanel casually sharpening knives in her closet at 3 a.m as she plans her vengeance. It only gets spOoOokier after Zayday’s big announcement.
