If there’s one person who’s excited about National Dog Week, it’s the creator of Full House, Jeff Franklin. In fact, he was so excited that he decided to celebrate this year by virtually gathering the cast of Full House to create a spectacular music video about golden retrievers.
The song, “Gotta Love a Golden” includes most of the main Full House cast – John Stamos, Bob Saget, Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, and Dave Coulier – as well as Franklin himself and his two beautiful golden retrievers.
All true Full House and Fuller House fans know how special golden retrievers are to the Tanner family, and why this music video makes total and complete sense for National Dog Week.
“Over the years, Jeff has basically forced the casts of Full House and Fuller House to hang out with golden retrievers on set every day. His devious plan worked. We all fell madly in love with Comet and Cosmo, and we’re thrilled to help support Jeff in this worthwhile cause,” Candace Cameron-Bure told PEOPLE in a statement.
“Gotta Love a Golden” isn’t just a super fun celeb jam about dogs though. Franklin created it intending to benefit all dogs in need by pairing with PetSmart Charities. All proceeds raised by the single will help end animal homelessness.
“This week marks National Dog Week and the 33rd anniversary of the premiere of Full House. I thought what better way to celebrate both by bringing the cast back together to help animal welfare. Dogs can teach us so much about love, loyalty and living in the moment,” Franklin said in a statement. “My goldens Woody and Lola inspired the song with their relentless obsession with tennis balls. I love my Full House family for supporting me and agreeing to sing my goofy song. In these challenging times, I hope this project brings a smile to people and needed to help our animal friends.”
