Netflix’s ‘You’ Began Production For Season 3

Netflix’s ‘You’ Began Production For Season 3

You Season 2 was messy, wild, and left fans *dying* for more. We knew there would be a Season 3 since it was announced in January. Luckily, Netflix announced on Monday that the production for the new season officially begun.

The show follows New York bookstore manager turned serial killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) as he falls in love will multiple girls. The show is based on Caroline Kepnes’ bestselling novel, You. In Season 2, Joe moved from New York to Los Angeles, where he met a new love interest. The season ended with Joe and his new girl, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedreth), starting a new life in the suburbs. Joe was about to leave her, only to find out she was pregnant with his baby, so he stayed.

Plot details have yet to be announced, but fans can assume the season will pick up where Season 2 left off: with Love pregnant with Joe’s baby. Here’s what we can guess for the new season:

The original release date was supposed to be sometime in 2021, but that was announced on Jan. 14. However, due to all of the production delays, the timeline is likely pushed back. Does that mean the new release date will be in 2021 or 2022? We will have to wait to find out.

There will be new faces joining the cast. Badgley and Pedretti will be returning as the leading couple, but announcements revealed Shalita Grant (NCIS: New Orleans) and Travis Van Winkle (The Last Ship) will be joining the show. Grant will play Sherry, Love’s “mom-fluencer” frenemy. And Van Winkle will play Cary, Joe’s new wealthy friend.

On Oct. 21., Deadline shared that there could potentially be another new deranged character, Matthew, played by Scott Speedman. Matthew is “a successful CEO, husband, and uncommunicative father. He’s reserved, at times mysterious, and has a tendency to be withdrawn, all of which masks a deep well of emotion underneath.”

The most popular theory circling for Season 3 is that Love will turn into Joe’s enemy. Badgley told TVLine, “He’s afraid of her at the end. Basically, it’s set up for Season 3 in a way where they would be each other’s arch nemesis.”

However the series turns out, with new faces, new places, and a new air date (most likely), there’s definitely plenty to look forward to in this whirlwind of a TV show.
