Two years ago Jaden Smith launched his I Love You food truck idea, which is to feed those who can’t afford to eat for free. Now Smith intends to transform the idea into a restaurant, Variety reports. Details have not been announced yet.
The food being served is healthy and vegan. All of the trucks are stationed in key areas in New York and L.A. People of all backgrounds are welcome, only asking that those who can afford it pay a premium to allow those in need to eat for free. Some celebrities have shown up to support and help out behind the counter with this project, including ASAP Rocky. Smith calls it a ‘pay-it-forward’ model.
This isn’t Smith’s first philanthropic journey. Last year, he began The Water Box, a water filtration project in Flint, Michigan – an area severely affected by water shortages. The star has also participated in several collaborations like his vegan sneaker Vision Racer created with New Balance.
Jaden Smith is definitely very passionate about philanthropy. We are very excited to see this food truck concept turn into something more permanent.
