‘Legally Blonde’ Almost Had A Different Ending

It’s been 20 years since Elle Woods owned law school, winning her murder case and graduating as class valedictorian. But, it was recently released that Legally Blonde almost had a very different ending.

In the ending scene, Elle gives her valedictorian speech before her fellow students.

“It is with passion, courage of conviction, and strong sense of self that we take our next steps into the world, remembering that first impressions are not always correct. You must always have faith in people. And most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself,” she says. “Congratulations Class of 2004, we did it!”

But when speaking to the New York Times, cast members revealed that the movie’s final scene had been rewritten multiple times before they decided on the ending we all know.

“The first ending was Elle and Vivian in Hawaii in beach chairs, drinking margaritas and holding hands. The insinuation was either they were best friends or they had gotten together romantically,” revealed Jessica Cauffel. who played one of Elle’s besties.

She added, “the second or third ending was a musical number on the courtroom steps, and as Elle came out, the judge, jury and everybody in the courtroom broke into song and dance.”

“I’ve been waiting for somebody to leak that for 20 years,” Cauffel joked.

Other possible endings included Elle and Emmet kissing, and Vivian dying her hair blonde prior to founding a ‘Blonde Legal Defense Club’ on campus with Elle.

I think I speak for everyone when I say, we all are curious how that musical number would have gone.
