Blue Tesla Taxis Will Come To Manhattan Beginning In August

Goodbye yellow taxi cabs, hello blue Teslas! Revel, the moped rideshare service, is introducing a new taxi cab to Manhattan starting this August.

Regardless of earlier complications with the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission in the spring, Revel has been given approval to launch their fleet of 50 blue Tesla Model Y SUV taxis throughout Manhattan. However, the service will only be available in Manhattan below 42nd Street.

Aside from competing rideshare apps and traditional taxis, these Teslas will be employee driven (trained by Revel’s local Driver Support team). These electrical cars will be fully equipped with luxurious features such as charging outlets, extra leg room, and passenger controls. Each passenger seat will be removed from the vehicle to increase the amount of space for riders. Touchscreens will be included for the passenger to control the temperature and music.

Revel also intends to create 24/7 Superhub charging stations and has already opened their first one in Brooklyn – currently the biggest EV fast charging hub in North America.

The charging stations will not be limited to the Revel Tesla taxis. They will be open to any electrically operating vehicle. Each Superhub charges so quickly that an EV can get up to 100 miles after charging for only 20 minutes.
