Have you ever tried posting an Instagram Story and adding a link to it directing your followers somewhere else (maybe a fun website or GoFundMe page), only to realize you don’t the have 10K followers you need to use the ‘Swipe Up’ button? It’s a very frustrating problem many of us have become too familiar with.
So, it’s pretty exciting to find out that the chiefs at Instagram are responding to our social media prayers. Say goodbye to the ‘Swipe Up’ link and hello to the link sticker. The new feature will make your social media life so much simpler.
This new feature will enable users without 10,000 followers to directly link anything they wish in their Stories by using a tappable sticker that take people to an external website. People can also access the link sticker when people comment on Stories too, which is not available in the current ‘Swipe Up’ model.
The new feature rolls out on August 30. It has been created in order to “streamline the Stories creation experience” and offer more “creative control,” Vishal Shah, Instagram’s former head of product, told The Verge.
Shah also said that stickers better fit with the way that users currently use the platform and the goal is to widely roll out the feature.
Users will start to receive notifications on Instagram with a message reading: “Swipe up links will soon be stickers. Starting August 30, swipe up links will go away. To add a link to your story, use the new link sticker.”
Cheers to all of us (influencers and those of us under 10K followers) finally being allowed the same features!
