5 Common Partner Sleep Problems Solved

Your slumber is important, and so is who you’re sleeping with. That’s why you don’t want to hurt their feelings when they do weird shit at night. So we’ve concocted some short- and long-term solutions for anything that might come your way at night.

The Problem: Snoring

Short-term solution: Imagine your partner’s snores are the soothing rise and fall of beach waves. You didn’t know it then, but that’s actually what all of those yoga classes were training you for.

Long-term solution: Hit up a sleep specialist. It’s best your partner figures out what’s actually going on (ex: sleep apnea) before you spend a fortune on things like white-noise machines and earplugs.

The Problem: Twitching, kicking, jerking

Short-term solution: It’s not really a big deal if it only happens once in a while. They’re most likely stressed or sleep deprived. Try a weighted blanket to minimize their movement.

Long-term solution: Ditch the booze at night or opt for a magnesium supplement at least an hour before bed.

The Problem: Too much cuddling

Short-term solution: It’s cute that they want to cuddle, really. But just tell them before bed that you’d rather stick to maybe just hand holding or something along those lines.

Long-term solution: Introduce your partner to their new bedtime BFF (and yours), the body pillow. Tell them to cuddle on it when they’re ready for bed so they have something to wrap around that’s not you.

The Problem: Talking in their sleep

Short-term solution: SEX! Make sure they have an orgasm before bed. Releasing hormones like oxytocin and prolactin not only alleviates stress (often a cause of sleep talking), but it also makes it so you’re both extremely sleepy.

Long-term solution: Just like in elementary school, they might need a sleep schedule. Tell them they need to go to bed and wake up at the same time every. single. day.

The Problem: They’re extremely warm

Short-term solution: Convince your partner to get into the shower before bed. This can help cool down their body temp for the night. You can also set the A/C to a chillier setting for better sleeping.

Long-term solution: If you can’t afford a high A/C bill, order some fancy sheets and PJs made from breathable, athleisure-ish material.

Goodnight and good riddance to your sleep problems!
