Apple’s Upcoming Special Event Might Announce A New iPhone

Apple’s big fall event will take place on Tuesday, September 14th, the company announced. The special event carries the tagline “California streaming”, and will be another virtual event broadcast from Apple Park.

Apple usually announces the new iPhones at the fall event, and this year’s entry is anticipated to be called the iPhone 13. The new iPhones are supposed to be the same sizes as the iPhone 12, but a headline feature for some models may be high refresh rate screens. These new models are also expected to have smaller display notches and improved cameras.

Although it’s kind of difficult to decipher clues from Apple’s event invite, the darkening sky may suggest we’ll see improved night mode photography. And the glowing Apple logo might be hinting towards an always-on lock screen.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s SVP of worldwide marketing, analyzed a bit more in a video. The video went inside an AR Apple logo, and inside the Apple, you can view the same horizon as the static invite. Eventually the perspective shifts upward to view the stars above. This may suggest that the new iPhone could have an astrophotography mode, similar to what Google offered with some Pixel phones, or that Apple will discuss rumored satellite link features for iPhones.

It seems likely that the company will also share a release date for iOS 15 if the next iPhone is revealed at the event. Several other projects may make appearances at the event as well. The next Apple Watch, Apple’s next entry-level AirPods, and new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros may all be introduced at the special event.
