Justin Bieber Ended The Met Gala With A Surprise Performance

The Met Gala is meant to celebrate American fashion and creatives. And last night it got a surprise performance from one of America’s top pop artists, none other than Justin Bieber himself.

The 27-year-old singer was just awarded artist of the year at the VMAs, and continued to take the stage at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur. He performed four of his biggest hits, including “Lonely,” “Hold On,” “Anyone,” and a total treat for the audience – “Baby.”

Bieber’s performance marked the beginning of his return to live concerts after a three-year break. Amazon will release Justin Bieber: Our World, an intimate documentary looking into the superstar’s life as he prepped for his New Year’s Eve concert in 2020, on October 8.

“Performing live and connecting with my fans through music is deeply meaningful to me,” Bieber said. “Especially during the past year, being able to provide a service and share my gifts to bring some happiness to people during such a sad and scary time has meant the world to me. This film documents an intense and exciting time, preparing for a return to the stage during this season of real uncertainty. Coming together with my team, overcoming the obstacles, and delivering a special show, surrounded by friends and family – it’s all here.”

The singer wore a black suit by La Maison Drew (a reference to Drew House, his own streetwear label) on the Met Gala red carpet Monday night. Bieber completed the look with sneakers and a top-handle bag finished with a smiley-face, the Drew House logo. His wife, Hailey, looked stunning in a floor-length gown by Saint Laurent with a plunging back.

The Met Gala last saw Bieber in attendance in 2015. This was the first time Bieber ever performed at the special event. After he exited the stage, DJ D-Nice closed the evening.
