Starbucks’ 2021 Holiday Cups And New Drink: The Rundown

What marks the beginning of the holiday season? Is it the day after Halloween? Is it the day after thanksgiving? Or better yet, is it the return of Starbucks’ festive cups? We like to think it’s the latter. This year, they’re bringing all the joy. All you’ll want for Christmas is a bunch of Starbucks holiday drinks.

“Starbucks red cups are a portal to holiday joy,” said Suzie Reecer, Starbucks associate creative director. “Any time you’re holding the cup we hope that it’s just filling you with the excitement of the season and reconnecting with friends and family.”

Starting Thursday, Nov. 4, customers will have their warm drinks served in one of four new festive holiday cups that are “wrapped up like gifts for the holidays,” according to a press release. This year’s cups’ designs are inspired by traditional holiday patterns, such as wrapping paper, gift box ribbons, holiday lights, and a candy cane.

“This holiday, we wanted it to feel magical, we wanted it to be warm, and we wanted it to be inclusive,” Reecer said. “Our goal was to really bring joy to every customer and every partner.”

In addition to the festive designs, as a finishing touch, the creative team added a little gift tag on the back of each cup to create room for a cheerful message.

“I’m so looking forward to the holidays in our stores,” Reecer said. “I think it’s going to just bring so much happiness to everyone at a time when we are all really ready for it. We hope Starbucks can be a place that brings our customers and partners pure holiday joy.”

Starbucks is bringing back its holiday favorites such as Peppermint Mocha, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, Caramel Brûlée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Irish Cream Cold Brew, and seasonal food and gifts. New to the menu will be the debut of the Iced Sugar Cookie Almondmilk Latte. This is the first time ever the chain will feature a non-dairy item in their holiday lineup. The beverage (available hot and iced) was inspired by home-baked holiday cookies. It includes sugar cookie-flavored syrup, combined with Starbucks’ Blonde Espresso, ice, and almondmilk. The drink is topped with festive red and green sprinkles.
