TikTok Is Now Allowing 10-Minute Videos

TikTok has officially released an update that will change your viewing experience. The company announced an expanded 10-minute video limit, extending from the previous three-minute limit.

Social media consultant and analyst Matt Navarra announced TikTok’s new limit in a tweet on Monday, Feb. 28. In the tweet, Navara shared a screenshot from the TikTok app showing an account update notifying users that they can “Upload longer videos” up to 10 minutes long. This update also recommends users to ensure they’re using “the latest version of TikTok before trying out the feature” on the TikTok app or tiktok.com.

A TikTok spokesperson confirmed the move, saying, “We’re excited to start rolling out the ability to upload videos that are up to 10 minutes, which we hope would unleash even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world.” The spokesperson said this comes following an increased 3-minute time limit in July 2021, and is a result of the company always trying to find ways to “enrich the TikTok experience.”

The new update is a huge shift from TikTok’s original time limit for videos. TikTok’s original time limit for videos was 15 seconds when it debuted in September 2016. The app expanded to 60 seconds in length and then to 3 minutes. With this new 10-minute time limit expansion, TikTok will begin looking a lot more like YouTube.
