There were plenty of trends spotted at the end of the Spring-Summer 2023 Men’s Fashion Week, from biker looks to floral patterns, and even couture pajamas. One of them in particular stood out though: the skateboarder trend, which definitely seems to be back.
It has been a dream for many young teenage girl of the 2000s. With its effortless allure, the skating trend has been making a name for itself in collections of houses and designers for 2023. It’s most likely related to the hype surrounding the y2k trends. In Milan, JW Anderson showed off a collection inspired by the 1990s, with pieces that change and challenge our perceptions of clothing.
The Bluemarble label, founded by Anthony Alvarez, is also participating in the skater trend return. Alvarez was inspired by urban cultures, subcultures, and the MTV generation to create colorful pieces, with psychedelic prints and vintage charm. At the show, you could see hoodies worn with XXL long shorts, for a skater look with couture accents. There were also signature pieces such as cargo pants at Emporio Armani and KidSuper.
