World’s Most Expensive Bottle Of Champagne Sold For $2.5 Million

Most would assume that the world’s most expensive bottle of champagne would be quite expensive. But who would’ve ever guessed $2.5 million? The Drinks Business reported that a magnum of Château Avenue Foch 2017 was recently sold on $2.5 million at auction, making it the most expensive champagne ever.

So what’s so special about this champagne? Basically, because it comes with an NFT. In addition to receiving the bottle, its owner will also be gifted the intellectual property rights to an image of the Bored Ape Mutant NFT. They will also receive other collectible cartoon figures featured on the bottle of bubbly.

The bottle serves as a collab between champagne connoisseur and NFT trader Shammi Shinh and Mig, the artist behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection.

“I knew there was a market for it,” Shinh told Fortune. “Once the buyer has the bottle, they will receive the actual NFTs that are on the bottle as well. Although they are physically printed on the bottle, they will receive the actual NFT artwork… To me, I’m thinking people are spending millions of dollars on pictures of apes, why wouldn’t they prefer a high caliber champagne with an ape on the bottle itself?”

The Château Avenue Foch 2017 is a divine champagne made from Premier Cru grapes grown in the French region of Champagne at the family-owned estate of Allouchery in Charnery. It was sold to two Italian brothers, Giovanni and Piero Buono. The sale was made in dollars, rather than cryptocurrency, ironically. According to Giovanni Buono, they “don’t plan to drink it.”
