There’s officially no need to skip out on the best meal of the day (dessert, duh). “The tastiest, most flavorful desserts come from highly seasonal produce,” says Lindsey Roehl, a personal health chef in New York City. Famers’ markets are overflowing with fresh fruit and Roehl’s recipes put them front and center. Next time your sweet tooth is calling, trying one of the following.
- Grilled Peaches
Mix 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and two tablespoons coconut sugar, set aside. Brush, cut sides with olive oil. Cook, cut side down, on a hot grill about two to three minutes. Brush tops with oil, flip, and move to side. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Cover; cook until sugar is melted and fruit is tender, about five to ten minutes. Top with Greek yogurt and granola.
- Strawberries and Cream
Quarter four cups strawberries (cut off stems). Mix with two tablespoons coconut sugar and two teaspoons lemon juice. Let sit for 30 minutes in a cold bowl, beat two cans chilled coconut cream, one tablespoon honey, and one teaspoon vanilla extract on high until stiff peaks form, about five minutes. Dollop on berries, add sliced almonds if desired.
- Raspberry Sorbet
Pulse 24 ounces of frozen raspberries in a food processor or blender. With the machine running, pour in 1/2 cup water and 1/4 cup honey, and blend until smooth, about three minutes, adding more water if needed. Freeze about 30 minutes. Scoop sorbet into four glasses, and top each with fresh raspberries.
Your sweet tooth shouldn’t have to suffer just because you’re trying to eat *healthy*.
