Have you been missing the stalker tendencies of Joe from You? Us too. Luckily, Sera Gamble’s hit series is back soon on Netflix for season 4! So far, Joe Goldberg has played a charming bookseller in New York, a salesman in Los Angeles, then an attentive husband in a quiet American suburb. Now the obsessive psychopath is resurfacing…this time as an English professor named Jonathan Moore, who recently settled in London. This fourth installment has many changes in store for Joe, played by Penn Badgley. A new identity, a new city, new colleagues, and…new prey? Of course. Here’s what you need to know.
After murdering his wife, Love, at the end of the previous season, Joe decides to pack up and leave the country. “I acquired a certain refinement crossing the Atlantic. Living in London allowed me to bury the past, if I can put it that way,” he explains in a first teaser. “This time I’m focusing on college and teaching. As for my extracurricular activities, they will remain strictly professional,” he continues, while several new characters are shown.
Per the Season 4 logline: “After his previous life went up in flames, Joe Goldberg has fled to Europe to escape his ‘messy’ past, adopt a new identity, and, of course, to pursue true love. But Joe soon finds himself in the strange new role of reluctant detective as he discovers he may not be the only killer in London. Now, his future depends on identifying and stopping whoever’s targeting his new friend group of uber-wealthy socialites…”
Deadline confirmed that the series also leaves room for change on the casting side. Newcomers include Tilly Keeper, Amy Leigh Hickman, and Ed Speleers. Tilly Keeper will star as Lady Phoebe, a young aristocrat, rich and made famous by the tabloids and social networks. Amy Leigh Hickman will play Nadia, an outspoken literature student who still harbors some insecurities. Ed Speleers will play Rhys, an author whose memoirs have won him many praises and which have allowed him to rise in society. Other newbies include Brad Alexander, Niccy Lin, Aidan Cheng, Stephen Hagan, Ben Wiggins, Eve Austin, Ozioma Whenu, Dario Coates, Sean Pertwee, Alison Pargeter and Adam James.
Season 4 of You is divided in two parts: the first is released on February 9, 2023, and the second arrives on March 9, 2023.
