Prince Harry Could Lose His United States Visa

Today, January 10th, the autobiographical memoir of Prince Harry, Spare, hits bookstores. In it, one of the confessions that attracts most attention is when Prince Harry admits to having used cocaine, smoked weed and taken hallucinogenic mushrooms. This confession, even though years later, could have consequences in the current life of the Duke of Sussex.

As the Daily Mail originally reported, citing “immigration experts”, this would be reason enough for any applicant for a residence visa in the United States – where Harry currently resides, along with Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. According to the outlet, the files to grant the visa are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and this history with illegal substances would be a reason for America to kick him out.

Harry headed for California, where his wife Meghan is from, in 2020. It isn’t clear if at that time Harry specified this drug use in his visa application, which has now been revealed. In any case, as explained by the aforementioned immigration experts, if he lied about his past, Prince Harry could see his visa revoked.

The type of visa that Prince Harry has to live in America has never been revealed, but experts suggest that is could be a spousal visa, since Meghan is a native of the US, or an O-1 visa, which is granted to people with “extraordinary abilities.”
