Margot Robbie Wore A ’90s-Inspired Versace Dress To ‘Babylon’ Premiere

Margot Robbie stole the show with her arrival at the Babylon Australian movie premiere on Tuesday. On the red carpet, Margot Robbie showed up in a stunning baby blue Versace gown.

The gown featured a formfitting corset like bodice with unique Versace hardware detailing on the straps and ruffled fabric at her hips. The slit design and hem of the dress were lined with red lace, further highlighting the actress’s long legs.

Robbie’s Versace gown was inspired by the Versace dress supermodel Carla Bruni wore at an after party hosted by the fashion house at The Ritz in 1995. Bruni also walked the summer 1995 catwalk in a similar baby blue dress.

Robbie was styled by Kate Young, who has worked with Michelle Williams, Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lawrence previously. The actress wore her hair in her signature middle part, with wavy pieces framing her face. She went with a red-carpet-ready makeup look, including a glossy nude lip, bright blush, and a bit of pink eye shadow. Completing the outfit, she wore a pair of matching light blue open-toed heels.

In a recent interview with W Magazine, she spoke of her role in the film. “When I got the script for Babylon, I felt I had to do it,” she said. “I’ve never felt that way about a script before. I was furious – at one point I suggested we come to the director’s house. When we finally met, I said, ‘I have to play this character – she’s mine.'”

Babylon also stars Brad Pitt, Toby Maguire and Jovan Adepo. The plot centers on the ups and downs of Hollywood stars, directors and producers during the late ’20s shift from silent to sound films.
