Stella McCartney Is Teaming Up With Five Climate Activists For Her New Skincare Line

Stella McCartney is a minimalist. She’s a vegan, and her products resemble her animal-free and classic taste. Now, the designer is offering the same treatment to the beauty world with her simple skincare line, Stella, which embodies her eco-conscious ethics.

“I want to deliver uncompromised products that stand shoulder to shoulder with all the other products out there that aren’t taking the same [sustainability] measures we are,” McCartney told BAZAAR.com.

“I’ve never not approached things differently in my entire career, so this was never going to be any different,” McCartney told Vogue of Stella Voices, her brand’s new initiative that collaborates eco-conscious campaigners with her line of skincare essentials, offering a platform for them to share their messages while creating a community of like-minded individuals. “I didn’t just want to get beautiful women, with beautiful skin,” McCartney told the outlet.

The designer has teamed up with Bastida, the cofounder of the Re-Earth Initiative; Poppy Okotcha, an “ecological home-grower” who focuses on reconnecting with the land through foraging and farming; the digital content creator Tammy Gan, who is devoted to making climate justice activism digestible and accessible; and Christabel Reed, whose platforms, EcoResolution and Advaya, focus on climate action and education through an emphasis on well-being. Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, who now runs the Jane Goodall Institute, a community-led conservation program with locations in 25 countries will also be joining them.

McCartney plans to inform people about the work they’re doing via her websites, social channels, and stores. The messaging will also live “anywhere we choose to react to the world and how the world moves,” she adds, saying there is no set way for how she hopes the five activist will engage with her products and platform. “This is really just about learning and doing something better with your purchase,” she goes on, “and still at the same time having glowing, beautiful skin.”
