11 Carrie Bradshaw Questions That Are Still Relatable

11 Carrie Bradshaw Questions That Are Still Relatable

The 1990s cult series, Sex and the City, was a revolution in the TV world. We were lucky enough to follow the hilarious adventures of Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York for six seasons and two films. Now, we present 11 life questions by Carrie Bradshaw that are still good to follow to date.

  1. How many of us out there are having great sex with people we’re ashamed to introduce to our friends?” (Season 1, episode 6)

Like Carrie Bradshaw, if the person we “date” does not introduce us to their friends, it can be very annoying. What could be the reason? You run it through your head over and over again. It’s true, such a situation doesn’t always mean the person is ashamed of you. Just that it’s not the right time (hopefully).

2. “In a city of great expectations, is it time to settle for what you can get?” (Season 1, episode 9)

In this episode, Carrie is disappointed to find out Mr. Big never wants to get married. The real question today may be: can we really be satisfied with what we have? Anyone living in a large city these days understands that temptation lurks around every corner, especially in social networks and dating apps. Usually, as soon as the smallest detail bothers you on a date, it’s a NEXT. Despite the social and cultural evolution, this questioning raised by the New York journalist in 1998 retains all its meaning.

3. “How often is normal?” (Season 1, episode 11)

That’s probably a question we’ve all asked for ages. This is the kind of questioning that can lead to a four-hour debate. But, unfortunately, we will never have a clear answer.

4. “What are the break-up rules?” (Season 2, episode 1)

To the question “How do I dump someone,” most people come up with, “either I ghost or I’m honest.” But are we really? It’s easy to say “this is not the time, sorry. It’s not you, it’s me.” This so-called “honesty” is generally more-so cowardice. We should instead take the example of Samantha who after years of dating Smith, decided to end it with, “I love you, but I love myself even more.”

5. “In a city as cynical as New York, is it still possible to believe in love at first sight?” (Season 2, episode 7)

We wonder almost every day…

6. “Can you change a man?” (Season 2, episode 9)

Good luck!

7. “When it comes to relationships, how do you know when enough is enough?” (Season 2, episode 12)

It’s true that even today we sometimes accept things that we would never have imagined enduring in a relationship. Yes, make compromises, but don’t put aside your values or your desires.

8. “Do we need drama to make a relationship work?” (Season 3, episode 7)

In this episode, Carrie is preparing to meet her boyfriend, Aiden’s, parents. She’s extremely happy with this idea, given the disastrous relationship she recently endured with Big. It’s true you can get bored when a relationship seems too simple. We’ve all heard it before: a couple that never argues is not normal. A little drama never hurts, especially when specially mastered. In order for a relationship to work, you must not hesitate to say when something is wrong, even if it means upsetting the other.

9. “Can you ever really escape from your past?” (Season 3, episode 13)

The answer is simple: no. But why do you want to escape your past? It’s the past who has shaped us into who we are. Be proud of it.

10. “Can you ever really forgive if you can’t forget?” (Season 4, episode 7)

It’s better to ask: “Does time really mend everything?”

11. “Denial: Friend… or foe?” (Season 6, episode 16)

Living in denial can be a good and bad experience in a relationship. Example: do you really want to know if your partner is cheating on you or do you want to live your life never caring about what may or may not happen?
