King Charles Wants Prince Harry At His Coronation

The biggest royal event of the decade is being prepared, the coronation of King Charles III, and now the question remains: will Prince Harry and his wife Meghan attend? Not only will Prince Harry and Meghan be formally invited to the ceremony, but apparently, work is being done to convince the pair to actually participate.

According to the Daily Mail, King Charles even asked for the mediation of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to convince his son to reach the United Kingdom and take part in the royal celebrations. He has only one condition: leave home in Montecito, California, all malevolent intentions, the desire to excel and quarrel and possibly even the microphones (which the gossips say are now constant companions of Prince Harry, for his Spare 2 book). The Daily Mail reported that Prince William’s staff said they “know nothing of these reconciliation plots.”

Those who know King Charles well know that the presence of Harry and Meghan at the coronation can only do the monarchy good. The strategy would be aimed towards avoiding further controversies caused by the absence of the Sussexes, which “would weigh more than their presence.”

Another popular topic are the opinions of the British. According to a recent IPSOS survey for the Evening Standard, 60% of Brits think Prince Harry and Meghan should attend the coronation. The pardon of the second son, who also saw his popularity plummet after his Spare book release, would be the ideal choice for many of King Charles’s subjects, many now fed up with ongoing scandals within the royal family.

At the center of it all, is once again Prince William and Harry. Court rumors report that Harry and Meghan will be in London only “if their terms and conditions are respected.” This assumption obviously guides the diplomatic moves of Charles and William, and also would seem to increase the gap between the parties more and more: both want to win, and there doesn’t seem to be a meeting point.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is expected to mediate and reach an agreement: an exclusive seat for the Sussexes in Westminster Abbey, perhaps even being on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the RAP air show at the end up the ceremony. King Charles would be ready to give in to the first point, but sources close to William say that William has strong fears about his brother’s good faith: in the days of the coronation he may once again steal the show from his father, organizing, without authorization, private events and attract photographers and newspaper headlines, so as to divert attention from the main real event.
