Summer is quickly approaching us, as are the fashion trends. So what are the fashion trends for this summer that we will be wearing? For the past few weeks, the best of fashion was presented in New York, London, Milan and Paris. The fall-winter 2022-2023 collections assured us a return to the fundamentals of style, while spring-summer 2023 is looking at the party and invokes the imagination over pieces merging fashion and art. The 2000s era didn’t seem as prevalent, but there were still some nods to it. The Barbiecore trend gave way to softer shades, particularly baby blue, sunset gradients and monochrome beiges.
3D Flowers
Like a fashionable bouquet or wearable tropical flower, designers transformed a simple item of clothing into a work of art.
Liquid Gold
Whether it’s sequins or lamé fabric, if it shines, it’s worthy. Shows like Chanel, Gucci and Michael Kors all showed that this trend is more chic than ever.
Baby Blue
Wave bye-bye to Barbiecore, say hello to baby blue. With a softer chromatic desire, this tint provides a fluid and innocent second skin, and was seen all over the runways.
Sunset
Summer is known for it’s sunsets. Over a flamboyant gradient, the sunset effect comes in second-skin wardrobe at houses like Etro, Ferragamo, and Courrèges.
Fringes
Usually associated with a bohemian aesthetic, this season fringes adorn a more sophisticated look. Whether it’s a dress, officewear or chic cape set, fringes set the tone at many runway shows this season.
Goth
Grunge is back, and so is first-degree Gothic style. Shows like Paco Rabanne, Dior and Dolce & Gabanna had black as the leading theme.
Crotchet
Between the 70s charm and craftsmanship, crochet is extremely popular this summer. In both city and beach wardrobes, it comes in natural color palettes at multiple designer houses.
Neon
Blue, green, yellow… fluorescent shades are in this summer, as shown on the runway by brands like Michael Kors, Fendi and Bottega Veneta.
Biker
The biker trend continues to prove to be a popular one from the streets to the catwalks. Orchestrated around the leather jacket as a centerpiece, it’s a more minimalist wardrobe, as shown by houses on the runway.
Beige
The monochrome silhouette can be chic in all versions of beige. Abandon statement pieces in favor of fashion fundamentals by daring to layer good basics and chromatic variations, as seen on the runway this season.
Sparkles
Whether they’re transparent or bright and bold, crystals and sequins are taking on a big role this spring/summer.
