Meghan Markle is being honored for her chart-topping podcast, Archetypes.
On March 30, the Gracie Awards announced that the Duchess of Sussex was named top Entertainment Podcast Host for her work on the show. The Gracies “recognize exemplary programming created by women, for women, and about women in all facets of media and entertainment.”
Per a release on her nonprofit Archewell’s website, the award “honors outstanding original content that both entertains and informs in a highly engaging and authentic manner.”
The royal launched Archetypes last August in an effort to correct narratives and reveal the origins of common stereotypes against women. Thus far, Markle has released 12 episodes, her most recent debuting in November. High-profile celebrities have been featured, such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, and Mindy Kaling.
In the premiere episode, Markle speaks to Williams about living with pain and recalls a frightening moment she had with her son, Prince Archie. In another episode, she dissects the “angry black woman” cliché with guests Issa Rae and Ziwe. Later in the season, she speaks with activist Jameela Jamil about coping with violent criticism and fighting for what’s right. In her season finale, Markle chats with Trevor Noah, Judd Apatow, and Andy cohen about some of the ways her husband, Prince Harry, is breaking down stereotypes for their son.
Upon its release, the podcast reached the top spot on the charts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. It also topped charts in 47 other countries, per Archewell.
