Princess Eugenie has given birth to her second child: Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank. Posting a photo of her new baby, Princess Eugenie revealed the news on Instagram, writing, “Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30 May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1 lbs.”
The choice of name is of special significance, with Eugenie explaining that Ernest’s middle names are a tribute to her great grandfather, King George VI, Jack’s father, George Brooksbank, who passed away in 2021, as well as her grandfather, Ronald Ferguson. The royal added that her two-year-old son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank – whose middle name is a tribute to Prince Philip – is “loving being a big brother already”.
Eugenie announced she was expecting her second child back in January, sharing a cute photo of herself and August (known as Augie) on Instagram, writing, “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer.”
Baby Ernest is Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s third grandchild, with Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcoming their daughter, Sienna Elizabeth, into the world in September 2021. Beatrice is also the stepmother to Edoardo’s son Wolfie from a previous relationship.
