Many of us have been in toxic relationships before, and unfortunately, that often times involves cheating. If you’re currently experiencing some doubt in your relationship, and your gut repeatedly tells you something just isn’t right, don’t hesitate to do your lady detective work. You’ll either get to the bottom of your unresolved trust issues that have nothing to do with him, or you’ll find out the ugly truth you’ve been fearing, and get rid of him once and for all. So, without further ado, here are some signs that your guy is cheating on you.
He’s regularly missing
Keeping tabs on your significant other 24/7 is a little extreme, but if you consistently don’t know where he is for large chunks of time and he isn’t responding to your calls or texts, and then gives vague answers about what he was up to, that’s a red flag.
He is protecting of his devices
Cheating partners might begin keeping their cell phones out of view and leaving the room more frequently with them. He might close his laptop more often and change screens when you enter the room. He will also make excuses for why you can’t use his devices for basic tasks like taking a photo or making a restaurant reservation. The reason is obvious: he’s cheating via phone calls, social media, or texts and is hiding his communications with the other person.
You find inappropriate exchanges on his phone
So you ended up going through his phone, and you found something. What possible explanation could he give to justify engaging with other women in a “more-than-friends” manner?
He changes his story
You sense something is up, so you ask and he gives you an answer that appears to make sense upon first hearing it, but as you think it over afterward you realize the details don’t add up. So you ask again, only to get more information that messes with the original story. If you find yourself more confused and conflicted the more you ask about the sketchy story, it’s time to bail.
He’s confiding in you less
Becoming less inclined to discuss problems with you could be a warning sign that your partner’s been venting to someone else. Even if he’s not sleeping with anyone else, this could point to emotional cheating in a relationship.
He’s suddenly all lovey-dovey
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with this normally, but sometimes, if a partner is showing you tons of affection out of the blue, they could be trying to make up for their infidelity. The fear of getting caught may cause a cheating partner to overcompensate in an effort to minimize questioning of their love or commitment.
You know his history of cheating and how poorly he treated previous exes
We get it. You want to be the special one he’s willing to change for, despite witnessing his antics with the last woman. Be wary when he says he wants to change because of you – that’s codependency at its finest.
He’s pulling away from you
Another sign of infidelity in a relationship is that your partner isn’t communicating with you as often, doesn’t have as much time to spend with you, and/or has become less interested in sex. If he suddenly has less interest in physical or emotional intimacy, it’s likely they’re getting what they need elsewhere. Cheaters tend to spend less time with their partners than usual because they are allocating more of their attention to someone else.
He’s paying more attention to their looks
If your significant other is once again hitting the gym after a hiatus or buying new clothes outside of his usual style, he might be in an early stage with someone else or even dating more than one person.

He doesn’t need to demonstrate major PDA, but if he barely acknowledges you when you’re out with friends or his behavior towards you is majorly different than behind closed doors, he may be playing down the relationship in public for a reason.
He’s reluctant about public outings
If he wants to spend all of your date nights at home, that could also point to cheating. Cheating requires a lot of effort, and taking multiple people out risks being seen by others that you know. A decrease in public outings without reason my indicate an issue.
He has new sex moves
Another sign of cheating combined with a very noticeable sudden change in your sex life may mean he’s picking up those new techniques from someone else and discovering new things they like.
He’s taking out lots of cash withdrawals
Cheaters often use cash when they take their secret partners out so that their significant others can’t track where they’ve been via credit card. But if you share a financial account, what you can follow is an unusual spike in ATM withdrawals.
He’s not cool about posting pics of you two on social media
Some people are lower profile on social media, or don’t have social media at all, which is totally fine. So don’t take it personally if you tend to post more photos than him. But if he’s posting with friends and family, yet not posting pics with you, and is weird about you posting pics with him, there’s something wrong.
He regularly accuses you of cheating
This classic gaslighting tactic serves two purposes. It puts you on the defensive so you don’t have the chance to consider the opposite possibility, and it makes your partner look so anti-cheating that they couldn’t possibly do it to you.
Your gut is always screaming he’s sketchy
The bottom line is, ,do you want to be with someone who is consistent, present, easily accessible, and not afraid to show you off, OR, do you want to be with someone who you are constantly trying to figure out if his words are lining up with his actions?
