Britney Spears has released the official title, release date and cover for her upcoming memoir. Dubbed The Woman in Me, the memoir will be released on 24 October, from Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. It was reported last year that Britney Spears’s memoir deal was worth as much $15 million.
The book – “a story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope” – is expected to document the singer’s life in the public eye, following her rise to superstardom and the struggles that came along with it. Of course the book will likely address the 13 years that Spears spent under a court-ordered conservatorship orchestrated by her father, Jamie Spears.
According to a release, the book “illuminates the enduring power of music and love – and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.” Jennifer Bergstrom, the senior vice president and publisher of Gallery Books, told People “Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery. I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact – and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.”
The official cover shows a black-and-white image of the pop star wearing a pair of silver jeans. Britney Spears’s memoir is available for pre-order now.
