To celebrate summer, and especially Bastille Day, restaurateurs are reopening the doors of their rooftops and high-perched restaurants. Between institutions and newcomers, here are some of the rooftops in Paris you should check out this Bastille Day.
Hôtel Dame des Arts
Incredibly close to Place Saint-Michel and the Seine, the Hôtel Dame des Arts has just opened its doors to Paris. Following in the footsteps of the figureheads of the New Wave, interior designer Raphael Navot created a refined decor in all-natural materials. While on the top floor, visitors will enjoy a rooftop with a breathtaking view. Descending over the Panthéon, the Sacré-Coeur and the Eiffel Tower, the rooftop offers seasonal cocktails and other good vintages to sip facing the sunset.
Le Jardin de Cheval Blanc
Hidden on the top floor of the Cheval Blanc palace, behind the Le Tout Paris and La Langosteria restaurants, the garden waited for the arrival for summer to open its doors. Embellished with lemon yellow cane furniture, which emerges in the middle of trees and flowers, this new terrace offers a short menu that revolves around tomatoes and strawberries, designed by Arnaud Donckele and William Béquin, and cocktails inspired by the scents of the Mediterranean.
Le Jardin du Raphael
Located on Avenue Kléber, the Raphael hotel is one of those legendary Parisian addresses named by a huge number of regulars but also film. A little sleepy in more recent years, the hotel is taking advantage of the summer to install a new rooftop. Decorated by Alexis Mabille, in an Italian garden atmosphere, with its lemon yellow wrought iron chairs, it is the Moma Group (La Fontaine de Gaillon, Lapérouse, La Gare…) who leads the design there. Thought out in respect to the painter Raffaello, the menu ties together solar recipes (such as a Vitello Tonnato, grilled octopus, and rigatoni with summer truffles) and cocktails turned towards the Mediterranean.
Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers
The Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers is one of the most intimate in Paris. Only able to accommodate six to ten people at a time, the vicinity has a bar with a view to lean on and a few pristine sofas. With a view looking over the rooftops of the Marais, there is a fine selection of transalpine wines and Italian cocktails to choose from on the menu.
Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers
Bonnie
Perched on the top floor of the SO/ hotel with a stunning view, Bonnie revisits the bistro cuisine made up of classics: sea bream tartare, lobster salad with avocado, linguine with langoustines, vine peach sorbet… all tied together with seasonal cocktails and nice vintages. This Bastille Day, Bonnie is offering a special menu to celebrate the exceptional day. Facing the setting sun which sets the sky ablaze and is reflected in the shimmering work of Olafur Eliasson on the ceiling, visitors have the ability of continuing their evening at the club.
Le Tout-Paris
Colorful decor thought up by Peter Marino and a breathtaking view of the Seine, Le Tout-Paris shines at the top of the list of new Parisian brasseries. Perched on the 7th floor of the Cheval Blanc, the menu, designed by chef William Béquin, features a piece of beef and its “Pont-Neuf” fries, farm poultry to share, burgers or even a chocolate soufflé.
TacTac Skybar
The highest rooftop in Paris has taken up residence at the top of the TOO Hôtel. The hotel is the work of businessman Laurent Taïeb and interior designer Philippe Starck, which was started last autumn in Jean Nouvel’s Tour Duo 2. Offering a breathtaking view of Paris, the rooftop offers cocktails, fine wines and small plates to share with a gorgeous view of the Seine, the Sacré Coeur, the Panthéon and the sparkling Eiffel Tower.
