A Gucci Cosmos Exhibition Is Moving To London

After a successful debut in Shanghai in April, the Gucci Cosmos exhibition is moving to the UK. Running from 11 October through 31 December, the immersive installation will showcase and celebrate the brand’s most iconic and forward-thinking designs from its 102-year-long history.

The British artist Es Devlin – who designed the original Shanghai exhibit – has created an exhibit that pays respects to London, through a series of imaginative sets, sculptures and multimedia artworks. It will be set at 180 Studios.

Following its run in London, the exhibition will the move to Paris and then Kyoto, with each show featuring devoted narratives that resonate with the distinct culture of its host city and country. The UK capital plays a particularly special role in Gucci’s rich history, as it was there that the house’s founder Guccio Gucci was first inspired to begin his artisanal luggage atelier in 1921, while employed as a porter at The Savoy hotel.

For the Gucci Cosmos exhibition, the Italian curator Maria Luisa Frisa has obtained never-before-seen items from the Gucci archive to showcase to the public, taking the viewer back through the decades of the Italian fashion house – demonstrating how it has evolved over the last century, and how its visionary design atmosphere has both reflected and defined the times.

Fashion fanatics can expect a spectacular collection on display, with plenty of iconic bags, as well as archival looks from previous creative directive directors such as Tom Ford, Frida Giannini and Alessandro Michele.

The Gucci Cosmos exhibition will run at 180 Studios in London from October 11 to December 31, 2023.
