“It’s a great hairstyle for those who want to try more exaggerated bangs and layers, without opting for a drastic cut, like straight bangs or a wolf cut,” they continued. “For so long people have toyed with the idea of revisiting bangs or layers, but they’re traumatized by some pretty awful haircuts from the 2000s! This cut is everything soft layers should be – a statement of sweetness.” The hush cut is softer and more subtle than similar cuts, featuring a floating layer and a sort of airy movement.
The hush cut relies on attention to detail when done by a professional. “There shouldn’t be any straight lines in the hair,” explains Sean Paul Nother and Nick Latham, who often use a razor instead of scissors. “As soon as the hair starts to weigh down, it loses the soft airy feel that characterizes this cut.”
The benefit of this haircut is that it fits most hair types and can be suited to most hair shapes. “On thinner hair, we might layer a little less, whereas on thicker hair, we might exaggerate certain parts,” they explain. “On straight hair it can be good to shorten the layers slightly so they show through, while on wavy or curly hair we tend to leave the hair a bit longer, so it can pull back. This hairstyle is great for accentuating your features, especially the cheekbones, and can be tailored depending on the areas you want to highlight.”
