How To Prevent And Reduce Chest Wrinkles

For those of us who live in the sun and sleep on our side – or worse, both – chest wrinkles are an actual concern. More often than not, we wake up from a deep slumber with deep vertical lines beginning at our upper-middle chest and going down between our breasts. They can linger for most of the day, begging the question, are these chest wrinkles permanent? Have they always been there?

If you’re someone in their mid-30s or younger, those creases likely aren’t permanent…yet. Side sleeping curves our back and shoulders so that we are concave inward, forcing our delicate décolletage skin to bunch up. If we lay like that for four to eight hours per night, it’s no wonder it takes so long and so much hydration to iron the creases out. After enough years of conditioning like this, they may not budge. Here are some ways to prevent and soothe those chest wrinkles.

Hydrate

Obviously, sufficient hydration is the starting point to all things wellness and beauty. But you’ll notice these creases are much deeper and more noticeable after a hot day in the sun. Stay hydrated with electrolytes to plump up the skin and help them vanish quicker.

Sleep on your back

While this is easier said than done for those devoted side sleepers, try falling asleep on your back. You will move throughout the night, but back sleeping takes training, so do your best to build the habit each time your drift off. Or, anytime you wake up, just move back to a face-up position.

Sunscreen

Sun damage is a major offender for causing those creases, so be sure to apply sunscreen from the chest up with a SPF of at least 35 and don’t forget to reapply.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a building block of collagen, which helps skin to keep its structure and stay looking supple. Making sure to get a good source of vitamin C per day can ensure your body has the tools it needs to build restorative collagen where you need it – like the delicate, thin skin of your décolletage.

Extend your anti-aging skincare

Use your favorite, potent serums down the neck and décolletage to extend the same benefits your face gets.
