2023 kicked off with the vanilla girl trend, then strawberry girl was everywhere this summer, and now that the temperatures are dropping, the cozy girl is taking over fall. The motto of the cozy girl trend is very simple: everything is based on comfort and warmth.
If the idea of chunky knits, pumpkin spiced lattes and warm fall color palettes excites you, then you too are a cozy girl. Temperatures are dropping, giving us the perfect chance to immerse ourselves in this comforting trend, which plays on tones and textures. Cardigans, cashmere and corduroy are the order of the day, as are tones of caramel, beige, café au lait and mocha.
The same rules apply to our beauty routine. Cozy textures and tones are applied to the skin, lips and eyes. “As fall dawns, I’m excited to see cozy beauty trends emerging, with shades of cinnamon, caramel and deep chocolate,” says makeup artist Ash K Holm, who counts Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox and Shay Mitchell among her clients.
When it comes to textures, we’ll see super soft cashmere finishes replacing the glowing skin that’s been trending all summer long. “Fall will be all about soft skin,” says makeup artist Nikki Wolff, who works with the likes of Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid and Yara Shahidi. “Basically, perfect complexions and matte finishes,” she explains. “Forget the super intense glow of summer skin, our fall complexions will be characterized by a soft and flattering finish.”
Reducing the shine of your foundation is one way to create a cozy complexion. So try opting for a mattifying and gentle formula.
As expected, caramel tones are among the most delicious makeup shades of fall, and take the latte makeup trend in an even more cozy form.
If walks in the woods and leaves crunching under your soles remind you of fall, rest assured: you are not alone. Also take inspiration from the animals you might encounter during your country walks, with delicate doe eyes, feline liner or even a typically sixties look, subtly reminiscent of the owl.
Spicy shades for fall? While not quite revolutionary, it’s still effective and cozy. A hint of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg shades on the eyelids and cheekbones gives your look an autumnal touch.
If you aren’t into spice and chocolate shades, you can stick to pinks, but instead turn to a terracotta shade to respect the colors of the season. You can also do subtle contouring with a light brown lip liner.
We love latte nails, mocha nails and all the other seasonal browns. Colors richer than the light pink that were everywhere this summer, but softer than inky black.
