The royal family gathered in London this weekend for Remembrance Sunday, to commemorate fallen soldiers. And it was Princess Kate’s ensemble for the event that had a special touch: earrings honoring the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The princess stood alongside Queen Consort Camilla on a balcony above The Cenotaph war memorial gazing down over King Charles and her husband, Prince William, who wore his red-collared Officer’s Cloak of The Blues and Royals, as they placed wreathes throughout the memorial service.
Following the traditional all-black dress code, the royal re-wore her black military-style coat by Catherine Walker with black gloves. She wore a lapel adorned with red poppies and a Royal Air Force pin. The look was completed with a wide-brimmed hat by Phillip Treacy and earrings that were repurposed from the demi-parure of Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond and pearl leaf brooch, reports Hello!.
The princess wore a similar look at last year’s Remembrance Sunday service. She was dressed in a black asymmetrical coat dress by Catherine Walker, a pair of black gloves, a wide-brimmed hat, and a pair of pearl earrings previously worn by Princess Diana.
Over the weekend, the Prince and Princess of Wales also attended the annual Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall. Kate – again in all-black and embellished with poppy pins – wore a black long-sleeve midi dress paired with a matching clutch and heels. She honored Queen Elizabeth II again, by wearing her three-strand pearl necklace and earrings.
