Net-a-Porter Launches Rental Fashion Service

Luxury retailer Net-a-Porter is dipping toes into the world of rental for the first time ever – just in time for party season.

The online shopping retailer is partnering with two leading rental platforms for this new offering: Hurr and By Rotation. Both platforms will offer a selection of Net-a-Porter’s partywear, allowing its customers to rent popular styles both from contemporary and luxury brands – featuring 16Arlington, Clio Peppiatt, Coperni, Mugler, Paco Rabanne, and SImone Rocha – spanning dresses and accessories.

The collaborations will extend Net-a-Porter’s roster of designers to a wider customer base, testing the desire to rent high-end pieces to a demographic of fashion-engaged, Gen-Z and millennial customers – many of whom already use the rental model.

“Our first step into fashion rental brings an exciting opportunity to introduce Net-a-Porter’s exceptional curation of partywear to new and broader audiences,” says Vikki Kavanagh, managing director of Net-a-Porter and Mr. Porter. “The launch of our rental edit is key to enriching the global ambitions of our circular fashion offer, inspired by our customers’ voices and their growing interest to keep exploring how we can extend the life of luxury products together.” Following the success of its resale offering (launched in 2021) and repair service, which debuted earlier this year in collaboration with The Seam, Net-Porter’s rental option will be available to UK customers only from now until January.

“Net-a-Porter has an incredible curation of desirable products from some of the industry’s most exciting brands; combining this with Hurr’s existing luxury expertise and data from our work with retailers and brand partners, we’re able to work together to launch and scale an excellent first rental collection,” says Hurr’s co-founder Victoria Prew. The rental platform is also introducing on-night-only rentals as part of its edit, beginning at £30.

“This partnership with Net-a-Porter allows us to showcase the beauty of circular fashion to a wider audience just in time for the holiday season, and sends a strong signal to the wider industry that they are also welcome to the highly-valued By Rotation community,” says the founder of By Rotation, Eshita Kabra-Davies.
