Famous Christmas Movie Landmarks You Can Visit In Real Life

Christmas call for binge-watching movies. If are just as obsesses with binging as we are, consider touring the locations from your favorite Christmas movie instead of rewatching over and over again. Below, we break down stops from some of the most iconic productions.

Love Actually – Six stops

Two of these locations would be fairly obvious to anyone who has seen the London-set film – Heathrow Airport, where the movie begins and ends, and 10 Downing Street, where Hugh Grant’s love struck prime minister lives. Alan Rickman goes to Selfridges to buy a present for his lover – bug gets farcically delayed by Rowan Atkinson. The church where Keira Knightley’s character gets married, and serenaded by a choir singing “All You Need Is Love” is Grosvenor Chapel on South Audley Street. And what about the street where Grant knocks on every door until he finds Natalie? That’s Poplar Road in Herne Hill. And lastly, the restaurant where Colin Firth’s character proposes in Portuguese to Aurelia is Le Bar de la Marine, located at 15 Quai de Rive Neuve in Marseille, France.

The Holiday – three locations

The Christmas movie about two women who swap homes for the holidays is about the homes themselves as much as anything else. But where are the houses? Amanda’s (Cameron Diaz) Mediterranean-style house is in San Marino, California (on Orlando Road). The cozy cottage where Iris (Kate Winslet) lives isn’t real; it was build for the movie. But the town where it is set, Shere in Surrey, England, is real as is the pub where Diaz and Jude Law’s character go together. Finally, the restuarant where Iris and Arthur (her elderly friend) dine is really the Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills.

Elf – three locations

In this Christmas movie, Will Ferrell is a human elf with a childlike sense of wonder. A New York City-set film, it’s no wonder that a key scene takes place at Rockefeller Center or that Ferrell’s character visits the Empire State Building. The Hobbes’ apartment is located on the Upper West Side, at 55 Central Park West.

Home Alone 2 – three locations

Macaulay Culkin made the Home Alone films into the ’90s classics that they’re known as today. In the first Home Alone, the McCallister house is on Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, Illinois. Home Alone 2 sees Kevin (Culkin) in New York City. While in the big city, Kevin visits Rockefeller Center and stays the night at the Plaza Hotel, charging the room and room service to his unaware parents.

Miracle on 34th Street – one location

An obvious, but classic one. Head to Macy’s at Herald Square to see Santa – if you can stand the crowds.
