Whether you live in the City of Love, or you want to be taken away to Paris for Valentine’s Day, there are so many prospects for where to stay for the weekend of February 14. From rooms with views, chef dinners and tailor-made massages, these hotels near Paris offer attractive programs to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Vaux de Cernay Abbey

Former Cistercian monastery, listed as a historic monument, Vaux de Cernay Abbey overlooks a green park on the banks of the Eure, swarming with ducks, swans and even alpacas. Twenty minutes by car from Rambouillet station, interior designer Cordelia de Castellane is to thank for the hotel’s warm decoration with British accents. Inspired by its religious past and a certain chatelaine aesthetic immersed by its former owner (including Baroness de Rothschild), she adorns the 147 rooms and suites with floral tapestries, stripes and toile de Jouy designs designed by her. The furniture has been properly found and the period woodwork restored. While strolling through the garden, you can take a boat ride, admire the arches climbed with ivy, with their stainless charm, or check out the spa. In place of the old stud farm, it is the natural cosmetics house Tata Harper which is leading the way. Equipped with a movie theater good classics are shown in the evening, you can also follow sporting activities, ranging from aerial yoga to muscle awakening. At mealtime, guests have a choice. Most informal, the James Bar offers delicious cocktails and burgers. More gourmet, Les Chasses celebrates a certain French middle-class cuisine with its langoustine ravioli with caviar, its pithiviers with foie gras or its stew with winter vegetables. More festive, L’Auberge comes alive with live music on weekends and offers a country bistro menu.

Le Grand Contrôle

Former Ministry of Finance built by Jules Hardouin-Mansart, Le Grand Contrôle has become, under the leadership of the Les Airelles group a confidential hotel at the foot of the Château de Versailles. A tiny cocoon created as an ode to the Sun King, it contains only 14 rooms and suites decorated with floral Pierre Frey fabrics, titanic four-poster beds, marble fireplaces and old-fashioned bathtubs facing the greenery. An incredible asset, the hotel offers privileged access to the Castle, to discover the Hall of Mirrors, the king’s apartments and those of the Queen. The visit completed, it is then time to return to the hotel for dinner. Lit by candlelight, the menu of the restuarant Les Cent Marches was designed by Alain Ducasse and highlights the noble products of the French region: langoustines in court-bouillon, caviar which tops an airy egg, turbot with shellfish, chicken from Culoiseu in two ways or even a fine chocolate pastry with crispy praline. Peak of the feast, a fireworks display from the large fountain, accompanied by classical music, is arranged each Saturday evening around 10 p.m. And lastly, the Valmont spa, where you can treat yourself to a “Roi Soleil” massage with rose oil from Maison Caulière before heading to the swimming pool. And the massive brunch is served on Sundays, which the sun shines across the peaceful avenues of the deserted Château.
