One of the newest trends particularly appreciated by Gen Z is the librarian core trend, a fashion phenomenon inspired by librarians, who opt to wear soft cardigans, velvet pants and glasses. It appears that many trends adopted by Gen Z relate to a kind of nostalgia for times passed by. With its retro emphasis typical of the 1980s, librarian core thrusts itself in this spectrum of melancholy fashion phenomena.
The librarian core trend began with Miu Miu. During the fall-winter 2023-2024 show, the house unveiled a series of silhouettes dressed in soft wool cardigans, and subtly neglected pencil skirts, or with pretty polka dots, reinventing the librarian core by surrounding it with accents where sexy reigns. And yes, classic pieces actually are the best.
Very quickly, big personalities also adopted the trend. Bella Hadid made it her favorite style of all. The model has been seen on several occasions in outfits combining sophistication and effortless allure.
Below are the pieces to adopt the librarian core for the upcoming season.
