Nowadays, 90s fashion is making a comeback more than ever, with some of them establishing themselves as essentials. This is particularly the case for quiet luxury, the signature of Carolyn Bessette, who developed a style that was both cool and effortless, raising her to the rank of symbol of minimalist at the beginning of the century. Some items stand out from the rest, like the slip dress, this second-skin dress dubbed by the biggest personalities of the 90s. This season, we focus mainly on the star combo of the time, the slip dress paired with the t-shirt.
The slip dress is an essential for an evening out and necessity in the homewear wardrobe which had its peak in the 90s, thanks to stars like Kate Moss, Sofia Coppola and Gwyneth Paltrow. At the time, if it stood out on the red carpet, it was also one of the iconic items of clothing in pop culture: it was present in various films and television series for teenagers, such as Clueless or Charmed, in which the characters swear by the slip dress. These paired with t-shirts, offer a pristine and effortless look.

In 2024, it seems that the slip dress over a shirt trend is making a comeback. On the runway, during its last fall-winter 2024-2025 show, Demna for Balenciaga offered an entirely red version with grunge inflections. Some personalities have also succumbed to the trend: recently, Zoë Kravitz opted for an outfit where she paired these two essential wardrobe pieces during an event in Los Angeles.
