The ’80s Gold Stud Earrings Are Back

The ’80s Gold Stud Earrings Are Back

It all began at Milan Fashion Week last year, when the city was plastered with Gucci ads reading “Ancora” – the Italian word for “again” – prior to the Sabato de Sarno’s debut at the helm of the label, which ushered in the return of Tom Ford era sharp silhouettes, sheer fabrics and leather trousers. Then appeared the Mob Wife look on TikTok, complete with animal prints, power shoulders and pops of bold color. What does this mean? The ’80s are back. Or at least, some parts, such as frosted lipstick, disco curls, and now, bold gold stud earrings, a staple in Princess Diana’s wardrobe back in the day that is now captivating designers and celebrities alike.

We have Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello to thank for the return of chunky gold studs. The creative director favors the elegant simplicity of streamlined cuts and easy-to-wear fabrics, but adds a touch of extravagance via massive vintage-inspired clip-on earrings.
