Cameron Diaz become a mother for the second time at the age of 51. The actress’s musician husband, Benji Madden, confirmed in an Instagram post that the couple has welcomed a son, Cardinal Madden, adding, “We are all so happy he is here!” Cardinal is a baby brother to their four-year-old daughter, Raddix, who arrived in December 2019. Beyond sharing their names, Diaz has revealed little about her children, except to describe Raddix as “the best thing that ever happened to both Benj and I” back in 2020.
The star stepped back from acting in recent years, as she concentrated on raising her daughter and expanding her organic wine venture, Avaline. However, she will return to screens for the first time in years later in 2024, when she appears alongside Jamie Foxx in the aptly titled Netflix film, Back in Action.
Cameron Diaz is one of a number of stars who have opted to expand their family later in life. Naomi Campbell, for instance, had a baby daughter, who was born in 2021, when the supermodel was 50. In June 2023, she announced the arrival of her baby boy. “A true gift from God,” Campbell said at the time. “It’s never too late to become a mother.” In April last year, Hilary Swank gave birth to her twins, Aya and Ohm, at the age of 48.
