“On the abandoned beach… Shellfish and crustaceans…” In 1963, Brigitte Bardot sang in her song La Madrague, forever associated with her little corner of paradise hidden along the road of the Canebiers in Saint-Tropez. The beach, a spot to see and be seen which heightened Brigitte into stardom, one day in May 1953. While the Cannes Film Festival was in full swing, a pretty 19-year-old brunette showed off in a floral swimsuit on the Carlton beach and attracts the eye of Kirk Douglas who ends up playing with his auburn locks to make mustaches. From then on, the young wife feels at home there and will forever be associated with the golden age of the Festival. The start of this beautiful love story with the Côte d’Azur and its salty landscapes.
