Taylor Swift Announces New Album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’

Taylor Swift has officially unveiled her next era, and it comes with sequins, spectacle, and more than a few Easter eggs.

The announcement dropped after a series of classic Swiftian clues. First came a post from Taylor Nation, the singer’s official management account, featuring a 12-image carousel of Swift in varying shades of orange, set to the dreamy strains of her 2020 track “August.” The caption read, “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’” — prompting fans to start connecting dots immediately.

Shortly after, a teaser appeared online promising a “VERY” special upcoming reveal. The capital letters did not go unnoticed, and speculation filled the comments within minutes. On August 12, the wait ended with a video reveal of Swift’s brand-new album title, The Life of a Showgirl, now available for pre-order.

The record will officially drop on October 3, with cover art showing Swift bejewelled in a bathtub — a nod that calls to mind both her Reputation and Midnights music videos. The 12-track album features a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title song, along with tracks titled “Elizabeth Taylor,” “CANCELLED!” and “Father Figure.”

And yes, fans have already noticed: there’s something about all those 12s.
