How To Bring Back That New-Love Feeling

Just because you have a routine going with your partner, it doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t revive those early-dating butterflies. Want some ideas on how to get back those new-love feelings? Stay tuned.

Be A Good Listener

Not all of his interests will fascinate you, but spend some time listening to something that’s important to him. “When you engage in a topic you usually dismiss, it reconnect you,” says Susan Heitler, PhD, author of The Power of Two.

Speak Lovingly to One Another

“After a while, you stop talking with those sweet undertones,” says Edythe Denkin, PhD, author of Relationship Magic, “and sarcasm or negativity can become more common.” Try using a nickname or soften your voice to inspire affection.

Notice New Things

Offer him compliments that you never have before: tell him he looks cute with shaving cream on his face or how much you enjoy his chicken recipe. This builds on your initial attraction. Heitler says, “Over time, you stop noticing the good things. Finding new ones will keep you loving him.”

Surprise Him With A Hot Embrace

Most nights, you likely offer your guy a quick peck when you come home from work or meet him for happy hour. But make it a more memorable, sensual experience by giving him a full hug for a couple seconds. Then pull back slightly and make eye contact.

If you never thought you’d feel those new-love butterflies again, now is your chance. Don’t hold back!
