How To Throw The Most Awesome Galentine’s Day Party

When people think February, they think sweethearts and Valentine’s Day. But not everything in February should be about loving up on someone else. What we should really be celebrating (because let’s face it, it’s less stress), is Galentine’s Day.

Maybe it’s all of the heart-shaped food or pink decor or bubbly cocktails, but I really love Galentine’s Day. I think the best part of it, though, is getting together with my best gal pals and celebrating our friendship. It gets harder as we get older to arrange a day to all get together. But on Galentine’s Day, we all know it’s the one day of the year to save the date.

If you don’t know by now, Galentine’s Day is a made-up holiday created by Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation. It’s celebrated every February 13 (aka Valentine’s Day Eve), and is when your best ladies get together and celebrate each other. Basically, you shower each other with love and attention whether people are single or not.

It’s so important to capture the essence of Valentine’s Day, but tailor it to your girls for a Galentine’s Day party. And here are some tips on how you can do that.

Balloon Heart Wall

What’s a Galentine’s Day party without heart balloons? Every Galentine’s Day party deserves heart balloons. And if you have even just the smallest bit of a bare wall in your home, you should go for this. A balloon heart wall totally transforms the room and makes the party more dreamy.

Stunning Flowers

Go ahead and splurge on some flower bouquets. Galentine’s Day only comes once a year and once the party is over you’ll have the flowers to keep for a while. Head to a local florist and ask for something pink and whimsical.

Heart-Shaped Food

By now I think we can all agree there’s nothing cuter than heart-shaped food on Galentine’s Day. Some may call it “extra” (blah blah blah), but it really makes the party come together. Would you rather spend money on a heart-shaped pillow or heart-shaped food? Answer: heart-shaped food, obvi. Some options would include pizza, pie, or the classic boxes of chocolate.

Pink and Red Sweets

Everyone gives in to sweets come February. It’s a right of passage. So why not make them a little cuter by making them pink or red and girly? Bonus points if they’re heart-shaped.

Signature Pink Cocktail

You can’t throw a Galentine’s Day party without a signature pink cocktail. Hint: prosecco is typically the way to go when it comes to Galentine’s Day parties. Crazy straws and cotton candy are also fun to add to your cocktails if you’re looking for something extra.

Party Favors

Galentine’s Day can’t last forever. So you want to be sure to send your friends home with some treats to help the love live on. How can you do that? Party favors, duh. Some cute ideas: wine totes with prosecco in it, pink bath set, bouquet of flowers, etc.

Galentine’s Day is a day to celebrate friendship and forget all of the romance February worships. It’s a time to show your friends how much they mean to you. Valentine’s Day is all about love. And so is Galentine’s Day, but in a whole different friendship-y way. And that’s what makes it so wonderful.
