Dua Lipa Is Being Sued For Stealing ‘Levitating’

Dua Lipa was sued on Tuesday, March 1 for copyright infringement by a Florida reggae band, Artikal Sound System, claiming the British pop star stole her smash hit song “Levitating” from their 2017 track, “Live Your Life”.

TMZ reported that a lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Federal court accusing Dua Lipa and her label Warner of copyright infringement. The reggae band are asking for any profits made from “Levitating” in addition to damages.

Even though the lawsuit contains little detail about how or why she supposedly copied them, it mentions that the two tracks were so similar that it is “highly unlikely that ‘Levitating’ was created independently.”

The case does not address why Artikal Sound System believes Lipa stole their song, but mentions that she had “access” to “Live Your Life.”
