Only Murders in the Building quickly became a favorite series among many viewers in the past few years. This detective fiction mischievously mixes genres to serve up a humorous thriller inspired by true crime podcasts, whose success continues to grow. The series appeals to even those who are not typically fans of crime stories. To the rhythm of upbeat adventures and well-crafted twists and turns, the episodes follow one another and keep us in suspense like a game of Clue. Following its success of the first season, the series – which has received three Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe nominations, among others – was renewed for a second season and then a third.
The strength of Only Murders in the Building lies in its characters: Charles (played by Steve Martin), Oliver (portrayed by Martin Short), and Mabel (played by Selena Gomez). This trio find themselves witnessing the death of one of the residents of their apartment building, Tim Kono. The police rule that the death was a suicide, but the three neighbors decide to investigate themselves and recount their progress in a podcast.
Between arguing and loving communication, they exchange finely written, funny and hard-hitting replies that leave you wanting more. And now they’re back. While they solved the mystery of the young Tim Kono, and were previously suspects in a new death in season two, now the third installment of the series is about to take off with new adventures.
The series continues its third chapter, available today. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez have therefore not finished playing detectives. Gomez even posted a few words via Instagram. “I’m not sure I have enough words to explain just how beautiful this season has been. It has been deliriously hilarious, challenging and for me, an absolute dream. I’ll post more soon.”
Other bonus: once again the guests are not disappointing since they include Meryl Streep, Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), Paul Rudd, and Jesse Williams (Grey’s Anatomy).
