Blake Lively Opened Up About Body Insecurities Post-Birth Of Her Third Baby

Even the most gorgeous of stars (i.e. Blake Lively) are human, and that means they have insecurities too. *Gasp*. That means they have some of the same worries about how they look that we do. Blake Lively just got very real about the insecurities she felt after giving birth to her third baby.

Women are especially vulnerable after giving birth considering how much the body has gone through. Every body is different: some might “bounce back”, while others might take longer to recover. Women are often left with stretch marks, bigger breasts, and extra pouches of skin, which can all be insecurities for some mothers.

Blake recently shared a throwback photo from a year ago, when she made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January 2020. The photo was taken shortly after her daughter Better was born. In the picture, Blake looks stunning in an all-black outfit, but admits that’s not how she was feeling on the inside.

“I put together a @lanvinofficial shirt and dress from @netaporter to make this pretty outfit,” Blake captioned the picture on her Instagram story. “Because no one had samples that fit me after giving birth. And so many clothes from stores didn’t fit either. So. Many.”

The actress continued, “It doesn’t send a great message to women when their bodies don’t fit into what brands have to offer. It’s alienating and confusing. And I wish I felt as confident then as I do now, a year later looking back.

“That body gave me a baby. And I was producing that baby’s entire food supply. What a beautiful miracle. But instead of feeling proud, I felt insecure. Simply because I didn’t fit into clothes. How silly is that in retrospect.”

This is not the first time Blake has made a point about post-maternity bodies. After the birth of her first daughter, James, the actress had to wear a bikini daily while she filmed The Shallows. You would have never guessed she had a baby just eight months prior. But Blake made sure people knew that her post-baby body transformation wasn’t something that happened easily.

Blake shared with The Sun that it took “two different trainers and a nutritionist to help me get into that sort of shape because it’s not normal to look like that eight months after having a kid.” She added, “Women put pressure on themselves to look like a Victoria’s Secret model after having a baby. It’s absolutely absurd. It was my job to look that way.”

Isn’t it so nice to be reminded that celebrities can be honest about their insecurities too? And to hear the reality about post-body baby feels and looks? Blake Lively is, once again, perfect on a whole different (but still human) level.
